Alias News
As we draw nearer to the premiere of season five, Executive Producer Jesse Alexander reveals the invigorating plans the creative team have, following the marvellous news of Jennifer Garner's pregnancy. "There's never been anything like this before - a pregnant spy - Spy Mom! We've chosen to make Sydney pregnant on the show, and that's a very exciting thing for us. It's not something that we're forcing on the character because of Jennifer's circumstances, it's something that's going to feel very organic to the Alias world."
Resurrection - Lena Olin
Proving that good things come to those who wait, Irina Derevko made a sensational return to Alias in season four. With its dramatic cliffhanger still in the air, there is the suggestion that we will see more of Irina in season five. Irrespective of her own character, Olin has strong ideas as to what the future should hold for her 'Chosen One' daughter, Sydney. "What I would love to see is - because what I've always been intrigued by in this show - Sydney's life, more than anything. I love the whole family concept and her friends. So I almost wish she'd stop spying, and get an ordinary job."
Collusion Course - Michael Vartan
Still speechless from the closing seconds of the season four cliffhanger? Well, so is Michael Vartan, even after four years of sudden twists and revelations. "It's such typical J.J. There comes a point in every season, that we've thought, 'What the hell more can they do?' I mean, how many more hallways can they run down and how many more missions can they go on… but somehow J.J. has a way of always finding something and all of a sudden we're like, 'My God! This is great!'"
With season five nearly upon us we will soon discover the truth about Vaughn's past. Yet what does Vartan feel about playing the bad guy? "Well, I never thought it would even come close to what happened. But if they're going to do it… I'd love Vaughn to be bad. The nice guy gets the girl at the end but the layers of your character are so much more interesting when you're a bad ass. Yeah, I wouldn't mind him being half bad. Maybe there's an even more secret branch of the CIA than APO? But he's got some things to explain…"
FANtastic Four - Michael McKean
To many Michael McKean will be forever recognized as David St. Hubbins, from the classic film This Is Spinal Tap. However, one of McKean's favorite roles is that of Dr. Atticus Liddell in Alias' season four episodes A Clean Conscience and Mirage. The reason why it's one of his favourites? Quite simply, he's a fan. "The first time I was in the office in that circular hallway they come stalking through, it was thrilling! Yeah, I'm a total fan. I've always been a viewer. It was fun and everybody on the show was suspiciously nice."
Aftermath - Jesse Alexander
Our Intel man in the Writers' office, Executive Producer Jesse Alexander, divulges some top secret information to Alias Magazine about the season five premiere. "The one-hour season five premiere is very exciting - it picks up right after the car accident with Sydney and Vaughn. We follow the aftermath, with Syd and Vaughn dealing with who hit them, and why they hit them. The audience has lots of questions about who Vaughn really is and what he was really up to - and Sydney has all those questions, too. We're going to pay-off that stuff in a way that the fans will be very excited about."
